Sunday Prayer: Breathe on Me

posted in: Faith | 0

Today, 50 days after Easter, the church celebrates Pentecost.  We remember God sending the Holy Spirit to the disciples, the beginnings of the church, and how the Holy Spirit still moves within church today.

Holy Spirit,

You descended on the disciples at Pentecost:

a loud rushing wind (did it sound like a train?)

tongues of fire (did it singe their hair?)

speaking unknown languages (did they even know what they were saying?)

It was a wild,

Breath of God,

Breathe on me and fill me with:

courage (to do your wild things!)

wisdom (to do wonderful things the way you would!)

faith (to trust that you will do more than I can ask or imagine!)

In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  Amen.
