Beijing From Above

Astronaut Reid Wiseman recently tweeted a photo of Beijing at night from space.  I rotated it, so it is less pretty, but you get a better sense of how boxy the design is and the top is north.  The Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square are in the middle.  The Forbidden City is the dark area near the bright spot (which I think is the central business district, but I don’t know for sure.  Surrounding the center are ring roads 2-6 (there is no 1st ring road).  My school is between the 4th and 5th ring roads in the north west side of the city.  I will probably live somewhere in that area, too.  The bright area on the right side of the photo is the airport.

What a fantastic view of Beijing – a star, a misshapen snowflake, a spider web, thanks for sharing! BC
